"Traveling Cats" Congratulations!
This is such a cool blog!!  - So original!  This is how Vanessa describes her blog:

For over ten years, I've been snapping pictures of every cat I meet during my travels around the world. Traveling Cats is the collection of those cat pictures.  It's an interesting project on many levels. The pictures are not just about the cats, but they also give a good impression of the cities and countries in which those pictures were taken. Also, whereas in some parts of the world cats look like little divas, in others they are unkempt, poor creatures. I currently have over 500 cat pictures, and that collection is still growing.

Fall Makeup Trends

With seasons changing, I always like to switch things up not only in my closet but also in my go-to makeup drawer by rotating the products I reach for the most. Fall makeup trends are inspired by deep colours, and some of my favourites include coffee brown, metallic grey, burgundy, and dark purple. Of course I also like to keep staple products that can go with any look too, I guess it's all about balance right? I thought I would share 4 items that I am thoroughly enjoying wearing now that autumn has arrived!

1. Clinique Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Broadest Berry - Talk about the perfect dark lip shade! Seems everyone is rocking bold lip colours during this time of year, and I am definitely one to experiment with them too. I love that it's an actual lip balm so it doesn't dry out my lips, but it also has a much longer staying power than other tinted lip products I have tried. On days when I don't want my lips to be the center of attention, I will just dab a little layer on, and when I feel like being more adventurous with my makeup I will be more generous with my application.

2. Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in R.S.V.P. - A staple shade in my opinion - it can be worn all over the lid for an even wash of colour, and I also like to blend it with darker shades in my crease to create a pretty, smokey effect. On days when I am racing out the door I will quickly apply some of the eye shadow with my finger and add a coat of mascara, and doing just that makes me go from looking like I just rolled out of bed to awake and ready to tackle the day!

3. Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder (reviewed here) - An oldie but a goodie! I tend to reach for matte bronzers when the weather starts to cool off. This one is my go-to for either bronzing or contouring since it layers very nicely, so if you just want to add a little extra wash of colour to give your face more dimension or are aiming to achieve extra sculpted cheekbones, this one will provide beautiful results - without making you look orangey or muddy!

4. NYX Powder Blush in Terra Cotta (reviewed here) - A super pretty, subtle bronze shade verging on slightly peachy on the skin, for when I feel like adding a bit more sheen to my cheeks. It isn't extremely pigmented which is how I prefer my blushes. I've also been loving wearing it as eye shadow, it's a few shades darker than Benefit's R.S.V.P. but still very wearable.

These are just a few of my go-to products that I thought were worth sharing! I hope this gives you a bit of inspiration to try something new, even if it means stepping out of your comfort zone! Makeup is all about being creative, after all, and being a little more daring once in a while is just part of the fun!

Have you tried any of these makeup items? Which one would you be keen on trying?

Slow Cooker Beef Chile Verde Nachos from Lou Lou Girls

chile verde nachos_thumb[8]
My cute hubby called me from work and told me that he had just signed up to bring a main dish for the company pot luck dinner. Main dishes can be so hard because you have to get the dish to the party without falling apart and then finding something that will feed so many people! I love challenges! We decided on these incredible nachos. They were a big hit at the party! Mike told me that everyone was trying to get the last piece of meat out of the slow cooker because the meat was so tender. The great thing about nachos are that everyone can make their own the way they like.

Pumpkin Cupcakes with Cinnamon-Brown Sugar Icing from Mayhem in the Kitchen!

SONY DSC
Last year I bought the Costco pack of organic pumpkin puree, and based on how September has gone thus far, I’m going to need to stock up again this year. I know a lot of folks think this whole pumpkin spice thing is overrated, overdone, overblown, but I just can’t help myself. As soon as the air gets crisp and the leaves start to crunch, the pumpkin obsession stirs within me and there’s nothing I can do about it. …OK maybe it’s not quite that bad. But it’s close. I knew I was ready for fall when I went through and sniffed the entire autumn themed line of wax melt air fresheners at the hardware store. Twice. Three times on the Pumpkin Pie and Spiced Cider varieties. Lucky for me, one of my coworkers shares my pumpkin love, and requested a pumpkin spice treat for her birthday, so I didn’t even have to think of an excuse to make these.

Therapeutic Blogging from The Realist Optimist

Our culture revolves around the idea of self-sufficiency and independence. We don’t want our survival to be dependent on anyone besides ourselves. But I’m pretty sure our culture has it wrong. Community is important. It always has ben and it always will be. We’re born into families, we play on teams, and we’re assigned to work in groups. We’re designed and engineered to function not in isolation, but in relationship with other humans. Even us introverts. After writing my most recent post on physical, emotional, and spiritual therapy, I realized that something was missing. I threw out a whole lot of information about the various forms of therapy and I neglected to talk about one of the best forms of therapy I have ever found: BLOGGING! I realize that some of you might not believe this fact, so I decided to make a list of the…5 Reasons Blogging Counts as Therapy

Crockpot Lasagna from 4 Sons 'R' Us

crockpot-lasagna-2
On top of it being an all-out yummy classic comfort food, lasagna is a busy mom’s secret dinner weapon. It’s such a great option, especially when we’re talking about a crockpot, not oven, version because it’s so easy to throw together and it’s really filling, so a little goes a long way. Plus, this recipe usually makes enough for leftovers, which is a bonus because lasagna is one of those foods that almost always tastes even better the next day.

Fall Handbag Essentials with U by Kotex from Warrior Queen

fallhandbagessentials
It's the first day of fall and California spent the morning pretending it was going to actually have cold weather for once. It's quickly thrown a JK in our faces, but I took advantage and wore my favorite Sevenly sweatshirt as I dashed to Walmart to get the best deal ever...which totally inspired today's post. It does help that my mom's best friend gave me a Kate Spade handbag this past week...Paulina's so proud of me!

The Phone Call That Left Us Speechless from How Do the Jones Do It?
