Calendar Recycle & Tuesday Blog Hop

 Papercrafting Tuesday Blog Hop
@
Sew Crafty Angel

I'm so glad you dropped by today.
Today is anything you made involving paper.
And if you don't have a papercraft but want to show your creative
work you can certainly link that up also.
After all blogging is about getting together
and having fun with our friends.
So come on friend and show us what you got.

My papercraft project today is that I recycled/upcycled last years pictures
from a wall calendar that I thought was so pretty that I could not
bear the thought of throwing it away.

I took my 3 favorite pictures in the calendar and then
I went to the Dollar Tree and for $1 each I purchased
three 5x7 photo frames in a green/gold color to match my spare bedroom.
Then it was as simple as cutting the pictures down to fit the frames and I was done.
So below are my new wall decorations that cost me a total of $3.

I think these turned out pretty darn cute.
What do you think?

till next time

Celebrate your Children Photo Blog Hop

Celebrate your Children
today on Mommie Mondays at Sew Crafty Angel

Today I wanted to give you the opportunity to show off your beautiful children.
I'm hosting a link party today where you can link up photos of your children.
I felt as mommies and grandmas we are always so proud of our children
and their accomplishments.  What is your child/children doing that you
want to brag about.  Please share stories and accomplishments with all of us.
We want to celebrate your child with you.

Let me get you started.
You all know how much I adore Jacob, the main man in my life.
This week he has mastered the act of giving his little Harley three-wheeler
gas to make it go.  I tried to get his picture on the bike for this blog but I
could only get his back, he hates getting his picture taken.
He is so proud of himself.  We give him "atta boys" and tell him how
awesome that was.  He catches on to everything so fast, he amazes me sometimes.
Of course to me, he's the most awesome little boy in the world.

I bet all of you feel the same way about your little ones, so tell us about it.
Link up your brag photos below and share stories with us in comment section.
I'm looking forward to reading your stories.
Hug your kids today and tell them how much you love them.
Tell them you are proud to be their parent and let them know
that you will always love them no matter what.
Our kids are not only our hope for the future, they're our hope for the present.

till next time

Chicken & Rice Casserole

Chicken & Rice Casserole

We are so glad you came to join us.
I hope you brought some yummy recipes to swap with each other.
I'm ready to try them all.  I really love fresh food taste so my dish is fresh and
unfortunately healthy, however it does not taste like cardboard, I promise.

The Recipe Swap Hop is below my Casserole recipe

Chicken & Rice Casserole
Ingredients
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
4 scallions, sliced
2 cups broccoli florets
2 cups shredded rotisserie chicken, (skin removed) I use only the breast
1 cup medium-grain white rice
1 plum tomato, chopped
salt and pepper to taste ( I like very little salt )
2 cups  chicken broth
1/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese (about 1 ounce)

Directions
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.  Melt the butter in a large ovenproof skillet over medium heat.  Add the garlic and about 3/4 of the scallions and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft, about 2 minutes.  Add the broccoli, chicken, rice, tomato, 1 teaspoon salt, and pepper to taste; stir to combine.

Whisk chicken broth and sour cream in a bowl, pour into the skillet and bring to a simmer.  Stir in half of  the parmesan cheese. Cover tightly with a lid or aluminum foil, transfer to the oven and bake until the rice is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed, about 20 minutes.

Turn on the broiler.  Uncover the skillet and sprinkle with the remaining parmesan cheese, then broil until golden brown, about 2 minutes.  Sprinkle with the reserved scallions and serve.

I like a roll of some sort with this casserole and asiago cheese is the perfect compliment.

Enjoy

Coffee Date and Anything Goes Blog Hop

Hi, come on in the coffee's ready and after all,

If you came to my home for coffee today our conversation would probably go something like this.

I'm so glad you came over.  I'm really in need of some adult conversation.
If I hear the word Mom one more time I think I'm gonna run away from home.
I really love my kids but sometimes I want to talk about something
other than poopie, boogies and what's that in my food.
Suddenly I can imagine what the animals at the zoo feel like
with people on the other side of bars staring at them and waiting for them to
jump through some magic hoop or something.  When I go to pee these days
it seems like my entire family gathers outside the baby gate at the door and watch and wait.
My little guy beats his bottle on the gate bars and cries and sometimes
for variety my daughter will stand there and cry too.  Me, I'm on the other side of the
bars thinking I just want to pee, it's not rocket science I should be able to figure
this out and make it happen without a crying audience.

I guess I'm just having one of those days but I'm truly glad you came by.

What about you, what's up in your life?
Ready for a refill on that coffee?

Angel

Ok now let's get on to the Hop.

If you want to link up to your main blog that's ok too.

Link Party - Papercrafting Tuesday

Papercrafting Tuesday Link Party

WELCOME
I haven't gotten to make a card in a while now.
The good thing about having a papercrafting
day is that I have to find time to create cards too.
I enjoyed working on this Cuddlebug Cuties, Aurora.
She is a beautiful creation of Anna's that is just lovely.

I'm obviously having a green day while working on Aurora.
I couldn't decide which greens I liked best so I just incorporated all of them.
I love her long hair and I didn't want to much decoration to take away from the hair,
so I decorated her in soft but elegant designs and colors.

Hope you like her.

Hope you will join in to show off your creative work.
Link up your cards or whatever papercrafting artwork you want to show off.

Link Up and strut your stuff.  Show us what you got.
Please visit other folks in the party and hopefully you will find new friends

Mommie Monday - Sippy Cups

Hello Friends

Wow, it's Monday again.  Where did the weekend go?
Today is our first Mommie devoted post.

I'm a new mom of a 17 month old boy and I can use all the advise anyone wants to offer so I thought there might be other mommies out there that would want to share some stories and advice with us.

Today I wanted to talk about sippy cups or should I call them carpet stainers,
outfit destroyers, car seat stainers, etc, you get the point.
I've tried every kind I can find in my area and they all still leak.
These little suckers are expensive and I've been tossing them in the
Recycle bin for months

Here's some that I've tried, do any of them look familiar?

After months of throwing away sippy cups I finally found a cup that didn't leak.
I was in my local Wal Mart store searching for another miracle cup.
I decided to look at something that maybe a child would carry in a lunchbox and
I found this plain, ordinary, unimpressive looking plastic juice box and it only cost $1.47.
So I thought, why not try it.
I picked up 2 and brought them home knowing full well that I'd be tossing
them so I wasn't fretting about wasting a couple of dollars.

To my surprise, I washed it and filled it with cranberry grape juice (of course),
Jacobs favorite juice and gave it to him and then waited for the mommie call.

I was truly amazed that this cheap little plastic thing actually worked.
It has a spout that you maneuver, if pulled all the way back and locked
your little one candrink to his hearts content,
if turned upside down it didn't leak
(Jacob loves to turn them upside down and watch them drip).
We started taking these little sippers everywhere.
My bag stays dry now and Jacobs juice gets in his tummy.
Needless to say, I'm very satisfied with this sippy cup.
I've since purchased 10 of them and we take them everywhere.
And for this price if Jacob looses his cup I can pull out another one.

Has anybody else had any issues with sippy cups or do you have one that works great?
Please share your story.

Angel

Coffee Date

If you could come to my home for coffee I think it'd be something like this.......

Hey girl come on in.
I'm so glad you could come by, I've been thinking about you.
I've just made a fresh pot of coffee and you know

I decided we should get together for regular coffee dates so we can catch up and share what's going on in our lives.  Grab a cup and have a seat at the table and I'll bring the pot.  I've got so much to tell you.

First off my blog will be 4 months old on May 2nd.
I'm so excited!
I decided to add some things so I can spend more time doing things I love with friends.
I've gotten together with Anna over at Cuddlebug Cuties and we will be hosting a weekly Friday Recipe Swap.  I can't wait to see what all my friends have been cooking up. And we will be featuring a wonderful recipe of our friends each week at the swap.  I'm so excited, I just can't wait.

And then on Mondays I want to spend some time with my mommie friends so I'm gonna be hosting a segment called "Mommie Mondays" so we can share anything mommie and kid related.
I love talking about Jacob and I know every other mom in the world loves to talk about their kids too.

Jacob is only 17 months old now and I can't keep up with him.  Yesterday I made a huge mistake when he wet his diaper.  I was in the middle of something but I couldn't leave him wet so I took off the diaper and left his pants on and told him Mommie would wash his bottom and get him a fresh diapie in a couple of minutes.  I was laughing and telling him he could go "Commando" for a little bit.   Well, that was not my smartest thing I did that day.  A couple of minutes of "commando" and I turn around and noticed a huge sagging spot in his pants.  "Oh NO", yep you guessed it, full of poop.  So I picked him up and headed to the bedroom, at which time he decided that crying and kicking would be fun.  As I'm trying to get the pants off, with as little mess as possible, Jacob grabs the pants legs and is pulling and slinging with all his might.  I'm laughing so hard and poop is flying everywhere.  Needless to say, lesson learned.

Oh, and then on Tuesdays I'm gonna have a "Papercrafting Tuesday" day.  We can make cards, scrapbook pages, whatever we can think of papercraft related and share with each other.

Then I'm gonna have "Thursday Coffee Dates with my Linky Party."
And of course anything goes at a party with girls chatting over coffee.

That's kinda whats going on with me.
What about you, what are you up to?
How's your coffee, ready for a refill?

I hope you will join me in all the fun.  I love spending time with you and I'm so glad you stopped by.
I am so blessed to have friends like you.

Little Princess Bag

Hello Friends

Today I have a Little Princess bag to share with you.
I love upcycling jeans to make totes and handbags.
I always buy new jeans to create my bags with so if they become gifts they are always new.

My Little Princess bag sports a long handle, ribbed top which is cool today,
pink ribbons and these adorable little buttons I purchased for just this little bag.
The long handle is fabric covered with pink ribbed lace.
I couldn't get this perfectly lined up but it came out pretty good I think.

I plan to put this bag in a give-away on my blog,
so tell me if you think someone you know would like it.
I love to hear from you.

My daughter always loves it when mom makes her something that nobody else has.
She always thinks it "cool" that she has an original just like she is.

My bags aren't perfect but everyone is made with love and joy.
I love sewing but I can't use a pattern for nothing.
My mother could not read or write but could sew like crazy, so I learned from her,
and today I still can't use a pattern.  Mom sewed by looking at something and
she could just recreate it, it was pretty "cool" to watch.
I'm not as good as mom was but I do love to sew.

If you want to make one of these you will need:
New Jeans size of your choice.  $15
Lace - a large roll     $6 to $8
Inner fabric for handle $4
Ribbons  $2
Buttons or decorations of your choice  $4
Needle
Thread
Sewing Machine

Craft Room Ideas

Hello Friends

I've been working on my craft room recently.
I've made a lot of improvements and changes.
Pinterest has a lot of wonderful ideas for redecorating if anyone is interested.
I have some craft rooms and decorating ideas to share with you today which are from Pinterest.

This first one is absolutely awesome.  I would love to have this room and enough space to create this room. Seriously, this is so me.  I love all the different work areas so you can do multiple projects at one time and be able to keep track of what you are working on.  This is my dream craft room space.

In this photo I love the thread rack.  I have incorporated a large rack into my room.
I've got like a million spools of thread and can never find the color I am looking for when I need it.

Below are shelves made to do a great job of display and functionality.
I adapted this idea with the use of stackable white cubes with shelves and drawers.

Aah, the PINK beauty.  Don't you just love this. Pink is my favorite color.
I can just see my husbands face if I tell him I am painting my desk PINK.
He'd be so happy he'd probably cry, lol.

Below is an adorable kitchen hutch that has been upcycled.
I have an old one in my basement that I am going to do the same thing to.
I want to strip it and paint it some, as yet, undetermined color.
Hey maybe I'll paint it PINK.
Currently my fabric stash is on black bookcases that I've recycled.

I have the same ribbon holder that is used in the photo below.
I've also purchased another fancier one from Michael's, actually I purchased 2,
but don't tell my husband.  This is secret stuff between us girls. Ok?

The room below is just lovely.
But I'd have to make the rug black to hide all the juice stains it would
have in a weeks time.
But I sure do like the organization and the sleek style if offers.

Here we have pegboard. I love pegboard. You can paint it any color you like.
Add it everywhere, hang everything on it.  I just love it!

Well, that's my Craft Room ideas compliments of Pinterest.  Hope you see something here that will inspire you to be creative.  Also I have a Craft Room board on my Pinterest page, check it out if you have time.

Till we meet again,

Apple Cinnamon & Blueberry Bread

Hello Friends

What a glorious day to be alive.
Finally the sun is shining, the breeze is warm, the trees are blooming.
I love days like this.

We've been working around the house all day.  Jacob and his dad cut the yard and he loves being outside, especially when dad is home.  They do "man stuff", whatever that is.
As long as he's happy they can do "man stuff'" all day long, lol.

I've been busy too.  I've mulched around my flowers.  Got my flower pots ready to go on the back fence.  Started putting up winter clothing. I love having the windows open and smelling the freshly cut graass.  Like I said what a glorious day it is.  God does really good work.

We like freshly baked flavored bread, Jacob can't get enough.
So today I made a bunch of mini loaves so we can share with friends.
Our house smells soooo good.   Today we made Blueberry and Apple Cinnamom.
I made plenty so you can come by for a slice anytime, I'll keep it warm for you.
I'll make a fresh pot of coffee to sip while I'm waiting for you to arrive.

Till we meet again,

Angel

Door Wreath

Hello Friends

I've been wanting to create a new spring/summer door wreath lately.
I like to make one every spring but I'm running late this year.
Anyway today I decided to go for it.
So I went outside for some inspiration.
I love all the signs of summer, the green leaves, the budding trees, the smell of the air, everything.
So during my inspirational walk I found this bush of, well basically, weeds.
They were very green and pretty weeds.
So I decided that this is what I would use for my wreath.
I gathered some branches, some of the weed branches, twigs, grass, basic outdoor items.
I bent the branches, tied them together with grass, you know, wilderness style.
I had Jacob helping me pick up twigs and we had a great time.
Now let me unveil my masterpiece and you can tell me what you think.

Before

After

Well as you might have guessed I didn't get as inspired outside as I would have liked.
So my next brilliant idea was to search Pinterest.
I found some awesome spring/summer wreaths that I pinned for inspiration.
I've got more on my Pinterest page if you want to take a look at those too.
Below are some ideas of wreaths that I thought I'd share with you just in case
anyone else out there is having the same creative issues as me currently.

Inspiration by Pinterest.

Yeah, these are a little better than my own creation, but hey I tried. LOL

Till next time, go create something.
